The 90 of that vintage is a choice engine. No FAP, so there's vastly less emissions stuff nailed on to cause trouble with age and mileage.
I don't think the 90 has a DMF either, though I could be wrong with that.

I've owned a 207SW 1.6D since Dec.'08 - got it in the Christmas lull right in the pit of the credit crunch. Never regretted it. It doesn't get heavy use: from 13K to 35K in that time, but it gives well over 60mpg and hasn't needed any treatment at all. I stick to 10K servicing instead of 12 as I don't believe in starving diesels of fresh oil. New pair of tyres at 32K and the other pair just about due now.
No gearbox probs, in fact the box is pretty good. My main grumble is not being able to see over the bonnet - but that's just modern design trendiness. But at least in a SW there is more rear headroom than in the saloon.
