The Multi-Function Display is the one at the top with the date & time & 'open door' warnings etc. The display is accessed by popping off the two 'filler' plastic side panels & removing 2 'star head' screws from each side. The cable loom plug has a 'leaver' style catch that has to be released by pushing down on the top of the plug.
The bulbs are "286T" from eBay about £5 for box of 10 (or your local dealer about £5 each) - however replacing the bulbs on my unit made no difference.
Unable to find any 'blown' fuses (yes, I also checked the ones under the bonnet hidden under the cover just above the battery) I ended up wiring 3 LED's in series (with a 33 ohm resistor) and tapping into the loom socket on the PCB to replace the bulbs.
Pin 8 is '0v', pin 7 is switched +12v (pin numbers as per cable socket). Since pin 9 is Battery +12v (un-switched) DON'T play about with it plugged in.
NOTE - pin 7 'off' delay is about 30 secs after removing the ignition key.
Final note - I used white LED's from a cheap 'cupboard light' from 99p stores & roughed up the front of the LED's with a file to make the light more diffuse.
