I have a 2011 1.6 Hdi 112bhp Tepee Outdoor. Loads of power, nice, but difficult to slow down less than 20mph when in third/forth gear. The engine speed stays at just under 1000rpm and the car trundles along even when foot off accelerator. In second gear it still does 10mph.If I go into neutral the revs actually drop to nearer 965rpm. Of course I can stop ok but have to use the brakes more often. It does this even up slight inclines. A pain in stop start traffic. Is this a drive by wire problem? I don't see it mentioned elswhere on this site.
I thought all diesels will continue to 'idle' whether in gear or not. My 306 HDi certainly did, and I found it very useful in slow traffic in a jam or queuing for a tollbooth. They have more torque at low revs than a petrol, so stalling them is difficult.
