It's for a 304 with old points and coil. According to the trusty Haynes manual I need a 1uF capacitor plugged onto the coil. These used to be readily available to buy from any car shop. But I think modern car technology has seen them off!
Question is.... Where the bleedin hell do I buy one from?? I want one with a wire. Not a solder jobby. Any links or info would be great!
Ta all! Carry on!

These are readily available from electronics shops or on line. Try Maplin or RS components, or search classic car electrical suppliers, or car audio. They are still cheap, but to counter that you may be forced to buy a large sealed pack of them. A capacitor used for this purpose is also often called a suppressor. Good luck

I'll try google'ing suppressor instead. May have a bit more luck. Not a bad idea!
Cheers Donald!
