My drivers side door won't open . The outside door handle moves up and from inside I can pull on the wire link, having removed the door card but the catch does not release. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I`ve had this many times.The inner lever section on the outer door handle is siezed and not returning to its correct position.As you have the door card off,remove the outer handle and have a look? I`m sure you will realise what I`m trying to explain?? Work in lots of WD40.

Thanks Oldpug - its was just as you said- I hooked a wire over the 'gold' lever on the back of the handle and pulled it down then up using the outside door handle. Repeating this whilst applying copius amounts of penetrating fluid has everything working well. I got so carried away that I even did the passenger door as a preventative measure
