here for sale today is my beloved 1991 peugeot 405 mi16x4
Originally I bought the car to rip its guts out and transfer them into a 205gti I had, but then I saw her!s1343.beta.photobucket.com/user/benbigred666/profile/ (if the link doesn't work try finding benbigred666 on photobucket.com
205 was sold straight away!! 14 months in a garage later a long chat with the missus has made me realise that I've not actually touched the car in all that time (bar firing it up and moving it in and out of the garage) and so I SHOULD sell it :-( ....
But as this is my pride and joy, I have got "her" to agree that if it doesnt get the offer I'm after, the car stays.
As there are Only 30 mi16x4's left with the alloy block, that makes her rarer than a Ferrari 360, a Lamborghini Murcielago, Aston Martin DB7/9 or a Bentley Continental GT amongst others. probably more likely to see flying pigs, hens teeth or rocking horse doo.......
I have seen two p2 FWD 150bhp mi16's sell on ebay in the past 6 months, both in similar states of repair and both sold around £800-900. As there are 3 times as many phase 2 fwd's left in britain as there are p1 4wd's I'm only going to entertain an offer around the £1500 mark, which is fair enough.
Good Points:
-It Starts and drives (if you come with a charged battery)
-Log-book(v5)present and Full Service history
-4x4 running gear, most of these cars have been stripped out to utilise the 4wd system in 106's,205's,306's and 309 rally projects
-160bhp d6c engine (most powerful variant of the mi16 made, lightweight magnesium alloy block that were replaced with cost-effective cast iron and restricted with catalytic-converters)
-Self-levelling, hydraulic rear suspension only found on MI's (all 405's handle well but this feature set the MI16x4 aside as one of (if not) the best handling cars of its day) and it also comes with a handy button it the boot to manually raise and lower the hydraulics
-Leather interior
-many mod-cons that were cutting edge in the early 90's (air-con, power-assisted steering, ABS, electric windows and sunroof, immobiliser and heated seats)
There's a few nice, subtle aftermarket bits on the car that make it very elegantly stand out, it has a gutmann grill, fibreglass bonnet with lancia delta vent, a front splitter and scorpion exhaust.please see pics-
As a resto project it does have its bad points, I'll do my best to list them all-
-Brake servo leak
-Rad leak
-No air box (previous owner nicked the induction kit before I picked the car up)
-Hole in bonnet, Which is made of fibreglass, easy fix.
-Dodgy paint job on exterior plastics (last owner tried to colour-code without prep and its peeling off)
-Immobiliser/Ignition issue, takes 2-3 goes on the immobiliser to engage ignition
-Roof lining coming away
-No spare wheel and the alloys are from a 306.
-haven't had a chance to get recent photos so the one on the trailer is the only one that shows the wheels that are on it
viewings and questions are entirely welcome, but do not arrive with a few hundred in your pocket expecting to knock me down because you will be wasting everyones time. the missus wants rid of it not me and I'm not parting with it unless I get what I want for it. would make a lovely run around for whoever has the time to give it the love it deserves, this car is a classic! or if you were so maliciously inclined, you could have the tranny and engine out and stick it in your existing peugeot rally project
