Im in the middle of attempting to remove the rear axle assembly to gain axle for welding,i need to know the correct procedure for removing the prop from the gearbox,it has 4 allen screws is it just a case of removing them and separating the prop from box or is there more to it?Thanks,matt

Assuming this is the same as the cars, then Autobooks say unbolt and move torque tube back about 20mm. Insert holding plate Peugeot tool number 8.0403S, and bolt to the bottom two holes of the tube. Remove prop. I would imagine the holding plate keeps the prop within the tube central, thus preventing the centre bearing breaking up. It looks like a u shape piece of metal from the photo which slides in between. I havent looked by you might see it on www.504.org under the techincal manual. Mat

Cheers Mat,just got a 504 haynes from the local library,i will study it tonight and attack it tommorow,probably try and make a plate up to hold the inner shaft,matt.
