Any advice on what and how to replace static seat belts with inertia reel type belts to 1973 504 cab. Also is it possible to fit rear belts and if so what type.? Any diagrams or pics or suppliers?

The belts themselves are going to be fairly straight forward to souce, scrap yard for 504 pickup will do, however the main consideration should be fixing points. I'm not sure within the door area the shoulder fixing point is going to be strong enough, although I cant picture what its like at the moment.

in the pic it shows position of static, with other point being by the bottom of door pillar. I assume the reel goes in at the same point as in the picture on an angle? (will a normal belt work?), or is it possible to hide away in the hood well?, note there is no shoulder point. Assume rear belts will have to be lap type?

This is an unsolvable problem. Give up and give your cab to me. I don't mind the static belts.
Does this help at all?

Perhaps the Audi Cabriolet parts may fit, looks a similar sort of method.

I think it could be quite a challenge to try and replace your belts: - You currently have static belts (2 points) in your Mark 1 cab. Automatic belts (reel type) are 3 points, i.e. you would not have the end bracket (a metal bar on 504cc, ~15cm long) at the foot of the door pillars, although I would ask you to confirm this. - your current static belts use the old buckle mechanism in the shape of a little bracket anchored right between the front seats. - Mark 2 and 3 models did indeed get fitted with automatic belts, however the retractors (reels) are located and anchored behind the backing of the rear seat and there are holes on either side of the backing to let the belts through. You would therefore need to adapt or replace your rear seat backing. Automatic belts also use the modern buckle mechanisms which you would therefore need to anchor on your car. - You would also probably require the tongue catching piece at the top of each door pillar to grab/rest the belt before/after use. For rear belts, yes you would need lap type belts which were standard on all 79-83 models. I think anchor points might exist for this on your car but you would need to check. I know they did for Coupés, but these were for regular auto belts, not lap type belts. You can get belts in the UK from Securon at a reasonable price: www.securon.co.uk/www.securon.co.uk/applications/app_list/ntos/seat_belts_peugeot.htm
