Hi all.
The pug is in the garage hibernating for the winter and so I'm finally cracking on with fitting a brand new mohair soft top. Anyone ever done this before? Hood frame has been shot blasted and powder coated so that's all good. I think I can suss out the tensioning cables but...
How would you recommend making holes in the hood for the fasteners below the rear window? Tried a gasket punch and it doesn't touch it! Maybe just use an awl? Also do you mount it on the rear first, then the front or vice versa?
It's an expensive double mohair hood and I don't want to ruin it!
Cheers!

Right, I'm getting there I think, but I need a favour please from a fellow 304 owner. Could anyone take a photo of the roof where the cables mount to on the frame please. It's been totally stripped and I think I've got muddled along the way! Ooops!

I've taken a couple of pics of the cables on my 304's roof, but I suspect they're not going to be much help. If you can point me in the right direction,I'd be more than happy to have another go.

That top picture is the one I needed! There is also a cable that runs along the front edge. I suspect it bolts onto the inside edge. A photo of that would be great! Thank you!
Trying to attach a photo from my phone. Bare with me I'm rubbish at these things!

Here we go, finally! I could do with a photo of this area to see where your cable go. Both seem very tight to fit and I want to get it right before I tear something! Thanks!

Would you believe it? I've been out of circulation for a while, thought I'd better get some more pics of those hood cables like I said I would, took the snaps and was about to upload them to the forum when I noticed I'm too late.
As with disappointing Christmas presents, it's the thought that counts...
I'm glad you got it sorted in the end.
