Hi everyone. I picked up my 304 cabrio at the backend of last year, It's an average car that's had a lot of welding done, but has interior trim 'issues'. Now the nights are drawing out there are a few little jobs I wanted to get done. Now I've sussed out that I have a rheostat, and that the lights were turned down, I've discovered a few instrument bulbs gone on the speedo and rev counter. What's the best way to get access to them? I've had a look underneath, and there doesn't seem to be much in the way of access, so I was wondering if it's easier to take the top dash pad off and does this give any access?
The other quick question was that do the heater controls light up at all? At the moment I have no lights there at all.
Many thanks in anticipation, Nick.

Hi Nick I am in the process of renovating a 1972 304 Cabriolet and have carried out quite a lot of work to her over the last 18 mths! To gain access to the lamps you need to remove the black dash and that allows access to remove the instrument console. The heater lights run off the one bulb, just take it nice and easy as things are quite fragile and parts are not that easy to obtain! I have a doner car and this has proved to be very useful. All the best Chris.

Brilliant! Cheers Chris. At least now I know which way to tackle it.

Got my dash in bits ok, just waiting for the new bulbs to turn up now. Didn't realise there was a slot in the dash to light up the cigarette lighter either!
