Ran my 504 cab down to the club meet on Sunday went like a dream. Coming back and since have had what appears to be misfire. When accelerating I get spluttering like a misfire. Have checked the leads and plugs and they appear ok. Could it be points, injectors, fuel?
Have had a problem recently with fan and have had to bolt down to run continuously in this warm weather, so don't know if over heating may have caused some issue in the past?

sorted, the + terminal on the coil had snapped and was help by the internal wiring. Assume that as speed increased the voltage stugled. New coild fitted along with Aldon electronic points and appears ok. Think the fuel filters may need changing as well.

Still no running ok. Have so far replaced both fule filters, plugs. leads, dis arm and cap. set tappets. Appears to be a lack of power and slight misfire at top speeds. Have read the manual re tuning the injection system but not sure if i should touch.
Any advise or anywhere I can take it to have it checked?

My 404Cab is the same. I`ve found it`s lack of fuel to no 2 cyl, with engine running I slackened each fuel pipe in turn,1 3&4 the engine stalled no2 it made no difference so that proved the problem was no 2.I`ve been told by a KF injection expert it`s one of the injector valves. The four on top of the pump that the pipes screw on to.Trouble is,you need a special tool to remove them, have a look and you will see what I meen.I`m having a tool made by my machine shop mate.If it all works I will let you know.MIKE.

Good news, bad news.Special tool works a treat, would not be able to remove the valves without it.Trouble is,they are ok,what ever I do no fuel to no 2 cyl.It must be the mechanical part of the pump that opperates the valve body.I am going to remove the pump and send it to Nottingham Diesels. They have a chap who knows every thing about these old KF pumps,he also likes talking about them on the phone,he is an ace. Before you get into my sort of nightmare check and recheck, plugs, pionts, condensor, compressions and all the simple stuff.KF pumps are very complex and expensive, this is going to cost me an arm and a leg.MIKE
