Unlocking Peugeot 205 Clarion radio???

Having changed his car battery, my son tried to turn on the Clarion radio. But he pressed various channel buttons before trying to enter the correct activation code. As a result the radio has locked out and will not accept any further inputs. I heard that this can be fixed if the car ignition switch and the radio is left switched on for an hour or more, when the radio will unlock and clear it's screen ready for input of the correct code?
However after four hours the radio still shows channel numbers & not a clear screen, so it won't accept the activation code.
Anyone managed to fix this problem and got the radio working again?

Are you turning the ignition key 1st click to position "A" ? and with the radio on for 1 hr.That should be the procedure? Do not turn the key to full ignition on.
If that does not work disconnect the battery and leave the car overnight ??

Many thanks ... we tried leaving the key in position A for an hour or more, but still the same numbers on the radio screen. Then I remembered someone telling me to press the BND key, and it worked! Screen went blank and accepted the correct activation code. Way hey! we have music again.
