Hi everyone
My 206 CC developed a minor rattle in the engine bay which I soon traced to the cambelt top cover being cracked and very loose. I got a new cover, but as I was removing the existing cover, I noticed a loose metal disc, about 2.5 inches in diameter and about 3/4 inch thick, literally falling out of a recess in the end of the back camshaft's sprocket. Its not held in by anything and it will fall out when i fully remove the cover What on earth is it ? Will it need to be put back in a certain way, are there bolts missing, or can I just take it out and leave it out? The engine is running real sweet at 99,000 miles
Help please as i can spend a few hours on it tomorrow but need the car back on the road Friday or im stuffed for a medical appointment
Thanks from a newbie
John

Without seeing it (any chance of photo`s?) its impossible to comment. Anyway you have found a loose metal disc,or whatever, inside the timing cover near a pulley and the cam belt. This needs to be identified and sorted,do not start the engine until it has.May be this bit of metal has something to do with the cover being cracked and loose? If you can remove it without any trouble I would surgest you take to a Peugeot expert for identification. All I can think of is its part of the exhaust camshaft pulley? later engines had a sort of variable cam timing pulley.
