2013 peugeot 5008 1.6 hdi knocking clattering noise coming from rear has been inspected by peugeot garage who confirm the noise is from the rear shock absorbers they have told me peugeot will not pay to replace the shock absorbers under its guarantee and that the noise though a common complaint is merely a characteristic of this peugeot model. If the noise was to get worse maybe a case could be made of it meanwhile I should tolerate it. Has anyone found a solution to this problem .This vehicle has only done 20,000 miles !

I have had no experience with 5008`s but have had plenty of experience with Peugeot`s.(and main dealer warranty dept) For a start it looks as if you're being fobbed off,a car of that age and mileage should NOT knock and clatter from the rear.I doubt very much if its the shockers, they are simple telescopic units and there is nothing inside to make a noise.Mind you if the bushes are worn or the bolts loose they will make a noise, but that is also doubtful.Coil springs have been known to brake, have they been checked. One thing is for sure this car should not make noises. I think you should write to Peugeot giving full details of the problem, your dissatisfaction with your Dealer and ask for some action.
