The famous 504 site at www.504.org has disappeared. Apparently it had gone by September, as mentioned in the reference: www.vectorbd.com/peugeot/archive/504/2006/Sep/0017.htmlIt was full of interesting and useful information - magazine reviews, technical data, wonderful photos of 504s from all over the world. I believe the owner was fairly young - he mentioned the birth of a second child as the reason for lack of updates. What a pity he did not offer the material to a club with similar aims - such as CPUK! I printed out a couple of the reviews, so these could theoretically be "reconstituted". Meanwhile does anyone know what happened?

The old URL is indeed no longer valid because of a problem with the ISP. However, Jeff has since re-launched the site on: www.peugeot504.orgHowever, some functionalities have gone, like the English forum. Not a problem if you speak French of course...

Most grateful for the information - I suspect that the site has become something of an institution, like the car itself. One of mine needs fairly expensive work, but a more modern replacement seems impossible to find. Even the Citroen Xantia - with that famous hydropneumatic suspension - is not nearly so smooth. Not just my opinion, but that of a motoring journalist who compared the cars with me. Having recently driven a new Rolls-Royce, he declared that the ride in the 504 is "almost as good"! A V6 version must be amazing.
On my computer it is necessary to enter the site initially via the French section. I passed O level French in 1959 . . . what remains is only useful in understanding simple concepts; fortunately the photographs still have comments in English. Do I gather that some manual 504s had a 5-speed gearbox?

Do I gather that some manual 504s had a 5-speed gearbox? I can't speak for the saloon/estate or pick-up (although the pick-up probably did since manufactured until the 90s) but the 504cc did indeed receive a 5sp gearbox in later years (model 78-83 for the Coupé V6Ti and model 80-83 for the 2.0l Coupé and Cabriolet)
