Hi all,
406 1.8 June 1999, 175k miles
revs when in traffic and have to switch off engine sometimes. Also has overheating problem, no apparant leaks but Dad fills up the coolant with Blue antifreeze, i dont think this is the correct colour. I cannot find out what colour coolant we need. The liquid is murky and definitely is wrong. How easy is to do a flush out, we arent car buffs but given clear instructions / guide we would be ok.
How many litres of coolant would we need? and any particular supplier, we think dealer be too dear for age of the car.
Also, what spec of engine oil would be best for a high miler , only travels now about 4000 miles per year. No blue smoke, nor does it burn or lose oil.
Also, dashboard mileage display does not show mileage. We have it fixed for the MOT, Dad never finds out if its a bulb , its likely it is, yet not long afterwards it goes unreadable again. What could be the problem for its regular failure, could it be linked to a regular failure of both rear and headlights on just one side of the car?
Cigaratte lighter doesnt work too, again seems to only last short time post MOT. Any tips / pointers please.
Cheers and thanking you in advance.
