I have recently acquired a 1977 model which I was hoping to get converted to electronic ignition. Both my mechanic and I thought that this would be relatively straightforward, but he has been unable to source any kit to do it satisfactorily. There is apparently an electronic device which can be attached outside the distributor, but this still requires all of the existing moving parts, and so is of little advantage from a maintenance perspective. The best advice so far is to fully overhaul the existing ignition system.
Has anyone out there managed to convert a 604 to electronic ignition successfully? I'm aware that although the V6 504 had the same engine it had a single coil instead, so I'm guessing that this is a problem specific to 604s...
Any help/advice much appreciated!

My advice is to stay original. All the distributor will need is a good clean, new points, condensers, cap & rotor.Adjust the dwell & timing, job done and it will last for another 40 years. If Dean Hunter has them? fit O/E parts. www.peugeotparts.co.uk/

Thanks oldpug - you have confirmed that the advice we have received appears to be the best thing to do.
