Please can someone help me with timing on a Peugeot 304.

The helpful Haynes manual says that there are copper links on the XL3 that line up with the marks on the sprockets.

unfortunately on my Xl3 timing chain there are no marks.

please - has anyone got a diagram or instructions for a XL3 engine timing.

I would be surprised if there are no marks on the chain? give it a really good clean. If its the Peugeot original it will have chrome links, if its after market, paint marks.
Here is a photo to help you. Single mark lines up with crankshaft sprocket mark. then 14 ordinary links, then two marks, mark on camshaft sprocket between the two.
