Hello,
This is my first post on this forum, so here goes !!!!! I am in the process of restoring my 1979 J7 and I am really stuck and need help or advice, regarding the front disc brakes. I have purchased a complete re-build kit, for both wheels which includes pistons, seals and pads. I finished the rebuild on the first caliper, all went very well with no problems. The problem with the second caliper is that the cylinder is totally seized in the caliper, it should just slide out of the grooves, (as did the first re-build). I see listed in the workshop manual that there is a `caliper arms spreader` tool, part number 9788.30, to help remove the cylinders. It seems to me that this seized cylinder problem must be a very common problem if it requires a special service tool.
So, I really would appreciate any help or advice on how to release this seized cylinder.
Has anyone got this service tool that I could borrow, hire or purchase ?
Thanks in advance.

Where did you get the parts from? if they specialise in classic Peugeot parts they may have the tool. I`ve used www.serie04.com or you could talk to Dean Hunter at www.peugeotparts.co.uk he is a old Peugeot boffin.
