Hello, Can anyone please help or advise me ?? I am in the process of restoring a 1979 J7. The distributer has no Ht leads connected to it. I have a new set of leads but I do not in which position to connect them to the distributer and to what cylinder spark plug. I have been told that the firing order is 1-3-4-2, is this correct ?? Also, is number one cylinder at the front of the engine (radiator) I am really stuck with this problem and I would really appreciate any advice, photographs or sketches, to get me up and running. Maffy.

Pug..webp (440.18 KB) The firing order is 1-3-4-2. Cylinder 1 is at the GEARBOX END!! The distributor turns clockwise. All I can find is this photo of an injection model, but it will be the same as your XM7 engine. If you study the photo I think you can figure out where the leads go. If that does not work out, remove the rocker cover, get noI & no4 pistons at TDC, with no4 rocker arms "rocking", the rotor will be pointing to no1 firing.
