Does anyone know how to replace the bulbs in the speedo, tacho and combined fuel/temp/battery dials? I think most of the "idiot lights" are working, but only one dial lights up, so I'm thinking the bulbs in the other two dials are either blown or perhaps there's a poor connection. I know the rheostat is working OK in any case. There doesn't seem an obvious way of removing the instrument pod assembly from the dash to get behind the dials. Any help most welcome. Its another one of those littlke jobs I've got on my list to do and as the weather is so bad this weekend I thought it might give me something to do!

There are only a few bulbs at the back of the instrument panel. You do not need to remove any individual instrument out of the panel at all if any bulb needs replacing. The panel itself is held by 2 screws, one of either side of the panel and accessible from underneath the dashboard, on either side of the steering wheel.
I can post pictures later on.

Here we go... I assume that you have the traditional 3-bloc instrument panel, similar to the one below: There should be a number of bulbs fitted at the back: In the above example (a 1980-1981 V6Ti intrument panel), there are 6 bulbs fitted in the black "pods": 2 on the side of the rev counter, 2 on the side of the speedo and 4 around the central bloc (the one with fuel, battery and temp gauges). Rotate the "pods" to remove them, check and replace the 2W bulbs if required and refit into place. That's it. You can fit 3W bulbs if 2W appears too weak. Oh and the panel is held in position through 1 vertical screw on either side:

That's fantastic 504VTI, I've got to look at mine too, they've been popping one by one, and nothing's lit at all now! Cheers.
