TEXT ???hi there im pretty new to this, iv'e just bought a peugeot 406 1996 td and a light came on and i dont know what it means? its a circle with a broken circle round it with a car skidding in it any ideas

This denotes non-operation of ABS.

The light will come on for 4/5 seconds every time you turn the ignition on, as the car checks the ABS. If after this time it stays on there is a fault in the ABS. This can range from the ABS not working at all to some grit in the sensor. In any case you should get the cr checked as 50 yards from the back end of a motorway pile up is NOT where you wnat to find your brakes are not working. It's an MOT failure in anycase if the light is on.
