I have a 1995 306 diesel and have lost frontlights when on dip, all other lights appear ok. Have changed the 3 relays in the fusebox under the bonnet, and also the switch/indicator arm, but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Andy

hi, you might want to have a look at the dim dip resistor. It's a metal cylinder about 2 inches long and it's fitted next to the relay box under the bonnet on the near side. You may find that the connector's got a bit warm!! Hope this helps.

Thanks Andy, went straight out to investigate, and as soon as I touched it the lights came on. On further investigation, I found that you are also spot-on in the fact that inside the connection two of the three terminals have attempted to almalgamate. I will make a trip to the scrappy asap and get a new terminal. As the resistor/lights appear to work (although there has never been any evidence of dim-dip), I assume I do not need to replace the resistor as well. My only other thought was, could this resistor be linked out if it was only to supply dimmed lights instead of normal dipped lights.

Hi, not sure if you can get rid of it all together. The dipped beam should come on dimly with side lights and ignition on, should be an m.o.t failure if they don't!!
