It might be the same as this Citroen one.
KEY FOB PROGRAMMING CITROEN XSARA—XANTIA—SYNERGIE– EVASION CENTRAL DOOR LOCK (1 BUTTON PLIP KEY) Procedure 1. Ensure all doors are unlocked using the key. 2. Press and hold plip key button until LED stops flashing. 3. After releasing button, LED will light constantly. 4. Press the Plip Button once, and LED will extinguish. 5. Open the door and hold the Plip key near the Ignition switch, and press the plip button one time. 6. Now turn the ignition ON, and wait 10 seconds then turn ignition OFF. 7. After 5 seconds, Plip should now operate.
CENTRAL DOOR LOCK with DEADLOCKING (2 BUTTON PLIP KEY) Procedure 1. Ensure all doors are unlocked using the key. 2. Press and HOLD the large plip key button while the LED flashes con- tinuously for 20 seconds. After 20 seconds press the small deadlock but- ton once while still holding the large button. 3. The LED will stop flashing. 4. Release the large button and the LED will light constantly. 5. Press the large button one time, and the LED will go out. 6. Open the door and hold the Plip key near the Ignition switch, and press the large plip button one time. 7. Now turn the ignition ON, and wait 10 seconds then turn ignition OFF. 8. After 5 seconds, Plip should now operate.

Hi
The 405 uses a one button infra red plip / key.
Normally ALL the codes MUST match for the remote plip keys to work.
The code number is located inside the plip on a white sticker & on the infra red locking control unit on a yellow sticker.
You can have as many remote keys as you like for one car, But they are £45 a time from Peugeot, But you do get a FREE key blade cut to your car, as long as you have the keycode ( Another £13 if you dont! )
Shearse, You say you have a 1993 405 estate, Does it have the Peugeot alarm system fitted? There is a serious security flaw in this system that should worry ANY pre airbag equipped 405 owner.

Unless you are near a really good Peugeot garage beware! I was quoted megabucks for just the parts to solve the same problem as you have. In end I contacted North London Motors. They sent me both blip keys, the steering lock assembly, and the roof remote receiver from same vintage car for £50 inclusive of vat and postage. Took me just over an hour to fit it all, and it works brilliantly. I live in Ayrshire and I'm sorry to say that I have not come accross a decent Peugeot garage north of the order yet but I live in hope...

You'll be hard pressed to find a good Peugeot garage south of the border as well...........

So if we have the code for the receiver and a new (secondhand) one button key from another car there's no way of programming the two together?
And bye the bye - what was the security flaw referred to above?
