???Hi, anyone recognise a pressure-type brake light switch with hexagon body, two spade contacts and a threaded part which I think is M12x1.25, about 12mm. long. It's from my J9 T/D mid-1980s LCV and I'm having great difficulty locating a replacement. It fits into the split-system master cylinder. Surely they were fitted to other Peugeots of that era? The original one went short-circuit and blew the glow-plug fuse every time I started it - very perplexing until I traced the fault. The second one has now decided to work only on emergency braking pressure - not friendly to other traffic!

Cant help here, I know the 504 I have has the twin circuit master cylinder, but no brake switch on it. Could you fit a microswitch to the peddle?

::)Here goes, see if it works. I have fitted a mechanical push-type switch but it's only temporary. The pedals are not the 'pendant' type but are pivoted below the floor and subject to water and road dirt. The thread also seems to be 7/16 20.NF, as on older style seat belt mountings.

Hi, the photo looks like many swtches fitted to many of the first hydraulic brake cars from 1950 onwards, Ford in particular fitted this type in 100E onwards vehicles. Classic car spares people may be able to assist. If required a adapter could be made for the threaded portion. T.

Thanks for all the help: the Eastwood item looks the nearest but I'll have to check if its 1/8 BSP thread would fit inside an adapter. Can they be got in UK? I don't think that there is enough space to fit an adapter tapped at both ends. Brake system is Bendix - Allied Signal.
