hi to all,
I need some tips on what Ineed to do to change the front shocks on my 605 (1995 Series 2) I bought some Boge gas shocks on eBay for £25 and I have a couple of friends who would help me. Is it a big/fiddly job? Are there any secrets to changing them on a 605 or procedure to follow? Need to get this work done to get through MOT. Many thanks in advance for your help, Gerard 07915093406

I am guessing the 605 is going to follow the same principles as most modern cars. Tool wise you will need a spring compressor (dont buy a cheap one if it breaks you could loose a limb!). You will also need a torque wrench to set the bolts. If I recall on 205 you should use a special Peugeot tool to align the strut to stop it rubbing against the inner wing, but I never used it and it was fine (but that could be an old wives tale).
You will need a track rod splitter, to tap off the track rod connection. Sometimes you can just tap the top with a hammer and it will come out, sometimes not!
The day before give everything a generious spray of DW40, avoiding the brakes pads/discs. This is also a good time to consider changing the discs and pads if they are thin.
Whilst you have the strut out, clean around the top of the inner wing, you may want to buy a spray can of waxoyl and give it a good protection coating for years to come!
