Probably not a frequesntly talked about vehicle but I own a 1991 2lt petrol J5 based Motorhome. Underpowered is an understatement. Does anyone know if there are any upgrades that can be done to this engine to improve power and torque. Fitting a diesel seems a bit OTT but can the engine be tuned, maybe diferent exhaust manifolds, air intake or even getting the engine to a decent Engineering shop for a strip down and ungrade. Any idea's or help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
George

I think your in a better position having a petrol engine if your looking for performance. Considering all the weight the diesel would be struggling rather a bit more.
Is this the 1971cc XN1T engine you have. I don't know if you have a carb model, but you could consider seeing if a scrap 505 car could be robbed of Bosch fuel injection and swop it over as it uses the same engine in some variations.
504 also used this engine in Ti format but the Kugelfisher system is obsolite so not to be considered.
The XN1 engine is still in production by Peugeot for 504 in Nigeria and is a hardy workhorse, so should stand up to some serious work. You could go real mad and have a nitrious oxcide kit!
Your not running on LPG are you? becuase that has a lower calorific value and you'll loose some horse power, but save a fortune !
