I just got a new front plate for my car to replace the cracked one that is on it before the MOT, but i need to drill holes in it to attach it to the car, and I woundered if any one could give me any tips on how to do this without cracking and screwing up the new plate

Had to do this quite a few times myself over the years. Take the old plate and lay it over the top of the new one. Use a sharp nail or similar and mark the spot on the new plate by scoring through the hole.
Use a drill with a wood bit in it of the correct size (see if it fits the old hole). Use a block of wood under the plate and hold the plate, and drill slowly through the perspex.
Try it out first on the old plate, you have nothing to loose with it if you are a little warry!
Mat.
PS might sound silly to say, but wood bits are the blackish drill ones, silver are masonary for walls (also with little paddle bits on the tips).
