TEXT ;)Hi, new to this forum, but here goes..... my sons 1994 106 1.1 injection seems to be over fuelling. The car ticks over o.k.ish and revs o.k. but on the road is has what seem like a flat spot, maybe 2000rpm where it splutters and looses power then a liitle further up the rev range is o.k. When its spluttering it has a black sooty exhaust. :-/I changed the lambda sensor 'cos disconecting the old one made it run a little happier, but after replacing it there is still this hesitating + fuel enocomy is pretty poor. This all started since the car went in for a clutch change!! The car is in good shape with only 60k. Any help would be appreciated, thanks, Mark

Hi
Have you checked around the gearbox area for any lose connections to any sensors located nearby?
Have you checked the main earth connections on the gearbox?
Have you extracted any fault codes from the ECU memory yet?
This operation costs you nothing to do & is very simple.
All you need is a long length of wire & to find the GREEN 2 pin diagnostic socket which is located behind the drivers side headlamp, Have a look for the plug floating about in that area.
Once you have found the diagnostic socket, Connect one end of your bit of wire to terminal 2, Thats the one on the right hand side.
Sit in the driver seat & turn the ignition on, DONT start the engine.
Now touch the other end of your wire to EARTH for 3 seconds only, The door striker is a good place.
Watch the yellow diagnostic lamp on the instrument panel.
It should go off, Wait a few seconds & then start flashing the first code which will be 12 ( Start of test)
For code 12 You get 1 flash, a short pause & then 2 flashes, The code will flash 3 times in all.
Now touch the wire to earth again for 3 seconds only, The next code will flash out, Number of flashes short pause number of flashes, Repeated 3 times again.
When you get code 11 that is end of test, No more stored fault codes.
All the codes will be 2 digits long.
If you try it, Post back any codes you extract & Ill tell you what they relate to.
You can also spend £15 - 20 on one of those flashy code readers from Halfrauds, But the length of wire trick is so much cheaper & gives you the same results.

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Well I don't know who you are Powerlee but the beast is back!! You were spot on with the earth straps. The battery was connected but two other straps, one coded green the other white were just dangling around doing nothing. After being cleaned up and reattached the car started and ran spot on!! :)Clearly the nuggets who did the clutch either missed them, or left them hoping we'd be back for more...!!! So thanks again, the cars back to normal & fuel economy is back thank god. CHEERS
