I have a 307 SW 2.0 diesel (110hp) which has just been into a main dealer for a service. The technicians have a concern with the lentgh of time it takes to start approx. 6-8 turns of the engine. i know it should start very quickly after the heater light has gone off. The said it would be the injectors and these are £300.00 each and there are four. If this is the problem! does anyone know of a cheaper source than Peugeot (Lucas etc) cost, and when they mean the injectors which part of the injectors would they be referring too. I live in Durham City. hope you can help Cheers Andyh

OK Well this car uses a Bosch common rail system. £300 I think is about the going rate, but considering the age of the car, but we don't know the milage, injectors may not be the cause. I would seek a second opinion from a local Bosch Diesel agent, go to www.boschautoparts.co.uk and use the dealer locator. HDi engines are direct injection units so they will start without the need for pre-heating of the engine in normal ambient temperatures. This doesn't mean though the preheat circuit doesn't activate becuase as far as I know it does, to aid inital combustion and cold running. You could have one or more faulty preheat plugs. If your 307 is under 3 years old with a full service history it is under Peugeot warranty, so make them change the if they think thats the fault.
