I have a 307 2.0 HDI (90) and the fuel consumption on the trip computer shows the MPG as 38.7 which sounds extremely low for a diesel. I have calculated the MPG myself and that comes out at around 46 MPG, this too sounds a little low. I was expecting the MPG to be in the 50's!
Does anyone have or had the same sort of issue with the trip computer? I'd be interested to hear what the MPG others are getting.
Thanks in advance

Well that depends how you drive and where eg. town, motorway etc and air con on/off. I doubt you will get over 50mpg, considering the weight of the 307, the size of the wheels etc. The only Peugeot diesel I got over 50 in was an old 106 1.4D. For size comparison my mothers Megane CC dCI130 makes just over 40mpg, which isn't bad for a much heavier car than 307.

From experience 40 mpg is good for a 2.0 HDI

Have you looked at the constructor's data?
307 (3/5 doors) mpg - 2.0l HDI (90): 40.9 urban 65.7 extra urban 54.3 combined
So, if you're mostly in town and quite heavy footed, your trip computer is about right...

I've got a gentle right foot and average 54 mpg in my 406 HDi 90 and have seen 72 mpg on a steady run.
The 306 90 has a rep of being a touch less economical than it's 406 brother. Why, i'm not sure. The 306 90 is usually found with Siemens injection whiclst the 406 is Bosch. I think the extra weight of the 406 could be offset by better aerodynamics. I'm not sure, but there it is.

I also have a 307 2.0 HDi (90) and I'm with you on the consumption. If I drive like my Grandad at a steady 60-70 I'm lucky to get 50mpg. I should be getting near that as an average. I had one as a courtesy car once and I got 54mpg as an average. There's something wrong with our cars. That's not the only fault I have with it. It's riddled with them. The odo is over-reading, it pulls to the left, the indicator stalk has a mind of its own...the list goes on. What on earth were Peugeot thinking? My other car (a 1996 306 DTurboS) is fantastic.
