 I've just bought an H reg 309. All seemed ok,but now my petrol consumption has gone sky high. Just driven about 20 miles and used £20 worth petrol? Can anyone help as i,ve not had a peugeot before and can't work out fuel/carburretor system. Cheers Kev

With that sort of consumption (around 5mpg) it is unlikely that the engine would be running at all well. I would suspect a leak in the fuel systyem somewhere. Look at where the sensor for the fuel guage is attached. (under the boot carpert under a plastic cover). The gasket can go or corrosion can mean fuel sloshes out round bends. Alternatively run the car and look underneath for drips, or if the road is wet for what is obviously petrol on the wet road.

Took your advice and replaced all relevant hoses in engine bay as some looked a bit dodgy. It appears to have worked. Cheers Kev309
