Is the thermostat operating correctly, is the radiator getting hot? If there are problems starting then there could be an air leak within the rubber fuel pipes or fuel filter assembly. Finally the head gasket could of blown causing poor compression, hence starting issues and allowing coolant to escape and hence the overheating. Is it using coolant?
