..Hmm..well I kind have took it down there on the spur of the moment, they'd been expecting it last week but because of the snow I thought I'd stay in it...a Partner van is like riding a tea trolley at the best of times..in the snow..no thankyou..
I know I should have pressed them for a loan..I think my lady at work is going to tackle them about this tomorrow.
I don't like to wade in too much as they were not the dealer that we bought the car from...we were going to buy it from them and my lady at work decided to get it elsewhere through a broker from another dealer at the 11th hour..trouble is the other dealer is miles away from us and as we've bought all our other vehicles from these guys we perfer to go there. Oh how I wish we'd have bought my car from them..ah well.. We've since made up and purchased a few 207's from them since..and my own private 207 came from them.
Anyway, what do you make of the hopping experience ? ..that's what it felt like...like the wheel hopped across the road surface. It was a fairly uniform outside tarmac carpark..after it did this I thought that enough is enough and decided to go back to the office and empty out my stuff and get it back down there.
I gather their Master Tech is going to drive it about and take it home for a while.
I'm dreading the call.. 'hello sir..unfortunately we cannot etc etc''

Seen a guy over at Peugeot Central who had a similar problem as me on his 19K 407 ..the dealerended up having his car for nine weeks and finally changed both ball joint assys and both hubs..this apparently cured the problem. www.peugeotcentral.co.uk/ftopic-5077.html

Ho ho.. Have a look at this: www.peugeotcentral.co.uk/ftopic-5263.htmlJames seems to know his stuff. Is this for real ? So the reason it sounds and feels all wonky at full lock at low speed is because they've actually made it really great at high speed... Hmm....

well.....it's back... The dealer says that they stripped down both suspension struts and rebuilt them. They said that they found two or three bolts at the top of the strut that were not completely tight... So basically they've put it all back together checking everything along the way. I must say that it now steers and corners very well indeed, it feels even better than the last time I had it back, it's way better than when it was new. I'm beginning to think that this one was put together in a factory in France on a Friday afternoon... Anyway, lets see how it goes now. I've been up and down some motorways and A roads at ever increasing speeds and it all feels really good.

I have a 407 SW 170 bhp diesel, haven't had this problem but have had a new clutch and flywheel fitted under warranty at 11000 miles. Still does not feel right but have had problems with wheel rims, have three bent rims after 20000 miles. Rims are bent on inside edge and as I am the only driver I know that they are not as a result of abuse or hitting pot holes etc. Anyone else any experience of this?

Bent rims on the inside of the wheel ?
Alos having a new DMF and clutch at only 11,000 sounds very bizarre..
Still not got mine sorted yet..putting up with it
I'm just really really careful and go really really slowly when turning full R/H lock at low manouvering speeds.
Jim.

..well after reading loads online and speaking to several other master techs as several Puegeot main dealers...the conclusion that I keep coming to is that this may be perfectly normal under certain circumstances, camber/narrow road/full r/h lock/turning out of it..
It doesn't appear to be the ball joints, they said that they have checked them umpteen times now and they are fine.
I know what you're thinking...and I've had several instances like this in the past where the dealer says that there's nothing wrong and after they send you away for the umpteenth time with you tail bewteen your legs..you drive down the road and the offending part falls off/breaks completely..I could tell you some stories of some Ford main dealers.
As it is it appears that there are many components which people have had problems with on the front ends of these cars and unless you can find someone who is an absolute expert at working out what the trouble is then you're on a hiding to nothing.
I'll keep you all posted on the progress, it's in for it's 20K service very soon. I'll ask then to check it over again.
It's been suggested by someone that they let some air out of the tyres and then try turning from lock to lock. I suggested this to them...they laughed at me..ho hum..

OK..post nearside driveshaft replacement...did it work ? ..nope..still the same.. Someone else has suggested coil springs jumping in their seatings..any takers on that ? The noise does sounds a little bit like a heavy spring loaded thud
