6803220, owned by a new Club 404 member,
This brings the total number in the Registry to 1493 cars !

I got some more happy news today:
4499080, No. Carrosserie: 10367, a Cabriolet with Carburator engine, model year 1966, found in PORTLAND MAINE USA
I hope to have a photo soon.
Total: 1494!

Dear Mike, it's really a big surprise to see the result of you registry guys' efforts: You are now very close to 1500 entries in the 404 coupe and cabriolet registry which is more the 10% of the total number ever being built, well done ! If I do understand correctly the vast majority of the cars you have identified in the registry is still alive and has not been scrapped  Until a couple of days ago I have neither been aware of the registry nor of this forum... but you have been aware of my Peugeot 404 Cabriolet and have even uploaded a photo of the car in this thread: Almost two years ago I bought 4597338 (Cabriolet Injection, blt 1965, green, tan leather, condition is ok, car just passed german MOT (TÜV) without any deficiency). We know that about 34 of the 1494 cars in the inventory are either scrapped already or are still existing - but only for parts. We believe that the rest are still in existence, either as licensed cars or as restoration project cars like my 1966 404 Coupé Injection.
So we can say with some confidence that more than 1400 still exist, but I would like to think that it is 1460!

I just purchased a Peugeot 404 Convertible...with VIN # 4495502 it is red with a black interior.
Can anyone tell me what year it was manufactured from the VIN..and any other details the VIN might be able to convey.

Hi, thanks for the addition to the Registry! It was made in early 1962 and was factory equipped with the carbureted 3 main bearing engine. It is the 502nd 404 Convertible made (of 10,387).

I have received news from Germany that another car which was scrapped in 2009 has been identified: 4595051, a Cabriolet Injection in the colour Blanc Arosa 1132, EBERSBERG GERMANY
Total: 1499!

No. 4592600, a Coupé Injection, was wrecked in France in the 1980s, so that brings the total to 1500 cars!
