Just been towed back from Belgium (thank God for insurance!) after what I thought was a blown head gasket. Turns out to be a hole in the block behind water pump. Curiously it still runs on 3 cylinders without too much trouble. Anyhow, the upshot is I need a decent replacement engine. Can anyone help? PM me here or call me on 07766 691268. Thanks

Bad luck, this could be hard work, and expensive?? The only place in the UK for something like this is Dean Hunter at www.peugeotparts.co.uk (01977677887) Europe,www.serie04.com or www.franzose.de

I've spoken to him and all he has offered me is a short engine that will probably require rebuild anyway. Was hoping someone may have a complete engine and box for a straight swap. Not bothered about cylinder head as we've already refurbed this before finding the hole in the block!

I've got a spare engine still if interested. Runs nicely and doesn't smoke. £100 if you're interested.

FAO Pete I'll attach some pictures of this engine so you know what you're getting. I've taken the oil pump out and cleaned / greased it as it was totally drained out from being stood still. Cheers Attachments:

Will chase a pallet from somewhere this week. Also I might give the garage a ring and go through it with them. Just so they know what they're getting. Attachments:

Last one! Here's the engine number. The letter 'S' on the right hand side denotes an XL3 1288cc engine with 8.8:1 compression. I want to make sure you're happy with the engine before I ship it out to you. Due to the size of it I can't offer a return if it's wrong. Give me a ring if you have any questions. Thanks again Attachments:

Thanks for the pics Dave. It certainly looks like an engine which is all I can say really! Good idea about talking to the garage. John's number is 01424 435857. Glad I didn't go for the short engine from Dean Hunter as con rod has also smashed its way through the gearbox casing front and back.

Ouch!! Well this engine still has its gearbox and clutch on it. It will need all the bolt on items swapping over from your engine. These are... Both manifolds and carb starter motor Alternator and tensioner Waterpump
It's all standard with an engine swap but I'll speak to the garage tomorrow. It's common practice to fit a new clutch when changing an engine but I'll see what he says.
I've got it strapped to a pallet anyway. Got one today for a fiver! Postage is looking approx £65+vat. If the garage and yourself are happy, then I'll arrange the courier to pick it up. We can sort payment via paypal.
Not meaning to go on about it but I do want to be sure you're happy with it as I can't offer any refund due to distance. The engine runs sweet anyway but the garage will have to build up the oil pressure before start up, otherwise it'll go bang like your current engine! Will post on here tomorrow after speaking to them.

I appreciate what you're saying about no refunds, Dave. Always a bit of a gamble when you buy a second hand engine. Can you make sure the water pump housing is there (not the actual pump - I have a new one), as the original was smashed by flying conrod.

Ha ha! Yes no problem Pete. Just spoke to John at the garage and he told me about the water pump bracket. I'll dig one out and fit it to the engine.
Also which delivery would you like...
Next day delivery for £75 +vat (£90) or 48 hours delivery for £60 +vat (£72)
