Andrew thats some great detective work, how difficult was it to get from DVLA? Was easy peasy. There is one guy at the DVLA who's job is to answer these queries. You need to give him a reason why you need to know (registrar for 104's seemed to swing it, but he didn't check or need any real confirmation). You tell hime the marque and model and he does the rest. He phoned me back within 5 mins with the info and was v. friendly. I can pm you his number if you wish. I thought ZS's were rare, but didn't realise that the whole 104 model had become so scarce!!

Sure, just thinking it would be great to get him to do this for each model for the club records, and magazine article. I certainly was interested to see the figures. It could help CPUK owners as well when it comes to agreed insurance figures as to justifing the rareness of the car.

One of 7 left. I bet the owner would be amazed if they new how rare their car had become.
Get him/her in the club!!

No idea sorry. Three thousand there so a bit busy. Seem to remember it was a North Lancs/Kendal Reg. If it's there again i'll find out.

The LNA is mine! Imported from France at the start of this year. It is a 1984 Entreprise (so only 2 seats) and has the 2 cylinder air-cooled Visa engine, not the 4 cylinder engine. The registration plate is a Blackburn one as far as I know, so localish. It is in good nick- no rust in the sills, or wheelarch edges and the paintwork came up nicely after a T-cut but is getting a bit thin in places. There is another pic of it in the photo gallery section of the Citroen Car Club site. Hope this is of interest.

Hello everyone!
I am one of only 4 104S OTR owners, I see! 104ZS - I saw your group B ZS on Retro Rides - somebody posted a pic of my car half way down the thread...
I honestly didn't think there were any more on the road - mine is on the way out too unfortunately, but the engine is fairly sound and the running gear all seems solid. My only problem is that she seems to have developed a little bit too much rust. :-(

Welcome to the forum labrat. we now have three 104 owners registered (2 ZS's and your S). The other ZS owner had an S as well but it has been scrapped.
Is yours the four or five speed box. if it's a five then it might have a use in the afterlife if your rust gets too bad.
Strange how the world seems to have forgotten the 104. There's a purple one on e-bay at the moment (a re-listing) at £41!

Relisted with a little more honesty though re the paint, funny when I had a moment bidding on it before, then retracted when it became clear about the condition, the other bids retracted too..... I wonder why that was......

It's got the five speed box, which if you haven't ever driven one before takes a while to get used to. It's got very short ratios, so fifth gear can take you steadily from ~25 to ~100 where it hits whatever passes for a redline. I was quite impressed when I drove first drove it - I know what a really fast car feels like and it certainly ain't my Peugeot, but it's a good vehicle for carrying shopping, guitars + amps and drunken students around in.
Structurally the car is fine but it was broken into before my ownership and subsequently the doors have a few scratches which have evolved into rusty bits. The door locks are on the way out, and the electric windows are also a little geriatric as are the windscreen wipers. Other than that, everything in the car seems to be working well!
Oh, except that now I think of it the auto choke on the carb died a long time ago and it's a real pain getting her going in this weather! Does anyone know about getting it converted to a manual choke? When I took the carb apart the other day it did seem as if the auto-choke was detachable - maybe I could fit a simple lever and cable instead?
Anyways, I'm really glad to have met some other 104 "enthusiasts" (read "people who really need their heads examining") to talk shop with. Do you have any pics of your ZS / other 104s?

Mines a 4 speed. I have a five speeed subframe ( a modified group B one with an extra engine mount welded on) ready to go, so I'm scouting for a 5 speed box at the right price! There are loads of pics of my 104 on the main club website (www.clubpeugeotuk.org) in the 04 series gallery. I'm not sure about your carb. When I had other ZS's with that carb it was always an unending source of trouble (mainly the auto choke). I'm sure there's a Weber conversion you can do. I'll send Stuart Bird, the other 104 owner along to this post to see what he says about it as he has that carb on his. A good place to go on the web is 104samba.free.fr/ it's in french but you should soon pic it up. Fantastic site with loads of pics, info and a 104 forum (heaven) We'd love to see your car in the club.
