Right, here's the condensed story.
I got the car for free. It was one onwner 19,000 from new. Until one year before I got it it was the typical granny car, garages, waxed, loved...mint. Then she gave it to her grandson who left it in a field for a year because it wasn't a mini!!! So it got rusted to arse all over the floor pan and the local boys kicked in the light etc.
My mechanic stripped it and pronounced £800 minimum to get it road worthy, plus about £1000 of mechanical work. So I left it behind his workshop to ponder on it. He moved, the new owners of the site filled the car up with loads of rubbish and carted it off to the scrappy without telling me!!!
I went round with a low loader to move it to the mechanics new place to find it gone.
sniff!

Good isn't it! I mailed him a while back to try to get permission to reprint it in the magazine but he didn't reply.
