Thanks Miles, The tag has fallen off my engine. Ive spoke to the DVLA and they said i can just put "engine number not known" and that should be fine. And if i tell my insurance company about the engine change do i need to change the log book?

Currently around 130 cars left on the road. Build number should be on the grill and the door, not on the glass. thanks to the psooc lemans register for the info www.psooc.co.uk
